What’s going on in and around Clarksdale/Coahoma County and beyond? Read about some upcoming events and don’t forget to check out the DELTA BOHEMIAN SCENE PHOTOS taken last week. We have included photos of the cast, crew and director from the Premier of “Moon Ring”, a movie Young & Free columnist Corinne Vance had a supporting actress role in.
The teen romance film debuted at the Little Rock Film Festival Friday, June 3 at the Argenta Community Theater. The writer/director of the film, Scott Loye, was in attendance along with his wife and producer Sara. Many cast and crew attended the premier including the lead actress and 2011 Miss Teen Colorado Caley-Rae Pavillard.
After the movie, Director Loye and Christopher Crane with the Arkansas Film Commission answered questions from the audience.
During the Q & A, Loye said the low-budget film ended up costing close to $250,000.00. The 90 minute movie was edited out of a total of 71.5 hours. Loye commended cinematographer Bryan Stafford for his amazing work.
A team of 8 visual effects guys spent 9 weeks rotoscoping one of the characters who played a “ghost angel” in the movie.
Veteran actor Jerry Van Dyke provided some quality comic relief during the intense film which touts a tagline of “True Love Endures Even Death” as mentioned on the movie’s IMDb page.
The cast consisted of mostly young actors and actresses with limited experience on the big screen. Loye did an excellent job with his selection of young people as they all did a commendable job.
The movie appeals primarily to teenage girls between the ages of 12-17. The book which the film was adapted from will be available later this month on Amazon. Loye is hopeful he will find the right distributor for his film and that DVD’s will be made available to the public very soon.
Watch the movie trailer and view more photos on our post of June 2 about the World Premier.

DELTA BOHEMIAN SCENE PHOTOS
M FOR MISSISSIPPI producers Roger Stolle (Cat Head Delta Blues & Folk Art) and Jeff Konkel (Broke & Hungry Records) oversee filming of their new blues documentary WE JUKE UP IN HERE last weekend near Red’s Lounge in Clarksdale — from a safe distance! Meanwhile, videographer Damien Blaylock risks life and limb to get “the shot.” The crew (along wtih audio engineer Bill Abel) also recorded two nights of live blues performances by Louis “Gearshifter” Youngblood and Anthony “Big A” Sherrod inside Red’s legendary juke. The new movie will fittingly premiere during Juke Joint Festival in April 2012.
