FRONT PORCH BLUES:
Clarksdale Film Festival
Great Southern Films, Music Documentaries and More
January 27 – 30, 2011
The following is information listed on the CLARKSDALE FILM FESTIVAL website. Roger Stolle and Nan Hughes and Goldie Hirsberg continue to promote and bring more souls to our unique haven in the Mississippi Delta. Thank you!
Join us for our inaugural CLARKSDALE FILM FESTIVAL, January 27-30, 2011. On the heels of our successful Juke Fest event, Clarksdale Downtown Development Association is proud to bring y’all a brand-new, film-based happening in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Please join us for a long weekend of new, indie and classic films celebrating our region’s music, culture and people. From documentary shorts to fictional features, from blues movies to Southern favorites… Delta Cinema (11 Third St., downtown – link to Mississippi Blues Trail information about the Festival) and other less formal venues will screen an amazing selection of known and unknown masterpieces. On the Saturday of the Clarksdale Film Festival, we’ll also run a couple Clarksdale Movie History Bus Tours with historian Robert Birdsong as your host. Plus, since we’re in Clarksdale — the original Home of the Blues — we’ll also showcase plenty of live blues in the jukes at night. Details added weekly on our “Film Festival” page of this web site.
We are always in need of donations, sponsors and volunteers. Thanks for your consideration!
