Sumner, Mississippi
The small Town of Sumner in the Mississippi Delta isn’t letting its size of only 310 hold it back from making a difference in the community.
The picturesque hamlet, county seat for West Tallahatchie, has a vision worth noting.

The town then took on the mission to restore the beautiful courthouse with the help of the Mississippi Department of Archives to the near-exact state it was in during the 1955 trial for the murder of Emmett Till. Located across the street is the new Emmett Till Memorial Commission headquarters. Patrick Weems is the director.
This past summer Sumner started a Farmer’s Market and just last weekend held a Harvest Festival with marching bands, fried catfish, live music and much, much more.
Make Sumner a destination, only 20 minutes south of Clarksdale. You’ll be glad you did.
