Lucious Spiller Wins New Fans Everywhere He Goes

When we hear blues man Lucious Spiller is leaving his hometown of Little Rock and headed to Clarksdale, Poor William and I adjust our calendar commitments so we can be certain we get to hear this talented musician perform.

In January 2014, Spiller scored the coveted 2ND PLACE SOLO/DUO TITLE in the 30th Annual International Blues Challenge(IBC)–the world’s largest gathering of blues acts–in Memphis where the winners were narrowed from a record 255 acts from 40 states and 16 countries (and four continents).

In March he spent a week in Manhattan with his Manager Linda Moon recording and performing in the local blues clubs as well as in Harlem. Everywhere he played he won new fans.

Living Blues Magazine featured the gifted artist in their October 2013 issue with the headline “Lucious Spiller–A Driving Force for the Blues.”

Spiller performed numerous times during Clarksdale’s recent Juke Joint Festival 2014 including headlining at Red’s Lounge on Saturday night.

Author, Editor and Filmmaker Lee Quinby and CBS News Writer, Editor, Reporter and Producer Erickson “EB” Blackney featured Lucious in their successful TRUE DELTA cinematic snapshot documentary of the Blues tradition that remains vibrant in and around Clarksdale, Mississippi.
