Where is this indian mound located outside of Sumner? My family lived in big white house with circular drive when I was about 7 yrs old (1959) with an Indian mound behind I think were servants quarters of were. I have been trying to find info on this place, they’re was also a house outside the drive for the hired hands. Please contact me @[email protected] if you have any info .. Thank you Rose Logan

    • Hello Scarlett Rose. This Indian Mound is located a little over 1 mile North of Sumner on Jenkins Road. You will find it in the major curve of the road. A large white home did sit near this mound back in 1959. My father owned the property at the time. His manager Levi lived there.

The home immediately near this mound is the oldest home in Tallahatchie County. I used to live in it and renovated it back in 1997. I no longer live there. My family still farms the land this mound sits on. It was a living mound, by the way, vs a burial mound.
