What’s Goin On In The World of Clarksdale?
Posted 11-16-11
The holiday season is upon us. A friend of ours recently remarked, “It’s not even Halloween and Christmas decorations are in the shop windows in Clarksdale!!”
Have a look at Roger Stolle and Nan Hughes’s listing of the music going on around town this week in their SOUNDS AROUND TOWN. Support the musicians and local businesses.
We are especially excited about the following announcement from our occasional Delta Bohemian contributor, John Ruskey of Quapaw Canoe Company.
Thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi
the DVD “Surfing a 300-Mile Long Wave” has been created and released
and is now available for your enjoyment — 46 minutes of photos, film clips, narration &
original river music from the Great Flood of 2011.
Watch the trailer for the DVD.
John has a unique way of capturing an essence through his videos, photographs, words and music.
He always touches the heart.
Sales from John’s “Surfing a 300-Mile Long Wave” DVD will be set aside for Quapaw Canoe Company’s one-on-one apprenticeships in canoe carving, big river canoe guiding, and wilderness survival skills for Mississippi Delta Youth. Read John’s insightful article about this unique voyage he made with writer Hodding Carter and photographer Chris LaMarca in CANOE & KAYAK entitled, Flood of the Century: Mississippi I – Catching the Crest.
