BIG GEORGE BROCK 79th BIRTHDAY BLUES BASH
Red’s Blues Lounge
Juke joint at Sunflower Ave. & MLK Dr.
EXCERPT FROM CAT HEAD WEBSITE: One of the Mississippi Delta’s greatest surviving bluesmen returns to his native Clarksdale to celebrate 79 years on earth and over 60 years of singing gutbucket, houserockin’ blues. Real blues, not rock or R&B. Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Jimmy Reed… he was friends with all of them and comes from the same time and place. If hardcore, electrified, Mississippi blues is your bag… If you want to step back in time for just one night… to a time when blues was still king in the Delta… then… Don’t miss this very special event featuring a local, real-deal Clarksdale blues band backing the big man himself as well as his female vocalist Miss Clarine Wagner. Anthony “Big A” Sherrod & his Allstars open and back the big man himself. Gawd knows who else might show up or what all might go on. Showtime 9pm. Goes till at least 1am or whenever the police show up. Pay up your insurance, and say your prayers. It’s gonna be good.
