CLARKSDALE, MISSISSIPPI – VIDEO AND PHOTO GALLERY IN POST – Clarksdale will host it’s 20th Tennessee Williams Festival this weekend, October 12-13, 2012. The event, sponsored by Coahoma Community College (CCC), kicks off at 9:00 a.m. on Friday at the Whiteside Lecture Hall on the Coahoma Community College main campus and concludes Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. at Ground Zero Blues Club, where a BBQ supper (reservations required) will precede the Presentation of the drama competition winners, with performances and commentary by noted TN Williams scholars and actors.
Both days are filled with fabulous lectures, monologues, tours, panel discussions, workshops, a Stella Calling contest, porch performances in the historic TN Williams neighborhood, and a fine reception at the Clark House Residential Inn located in downtown Clarksdale, right smack dab in the middle of the TN Williams neighborhood.

Beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Cutrer Mansion, next door to the Clark House Residential Inn, Caroline Kennedy, daughter of JFK, will be speaking on the lawn about the recently published, “Listening In: The Secret White House Recordings of John F. Kennedy.” At 7:00 p.m., the October fest-like “partay” will move next door to the Clark House, the historic home of Clarksdale founder, John Clark, built in 1859.
The Clark House Tennessee Williams Reception will feature cuisine provided by The Dutch Oven, music by CCC’s Choral Music Department, blues selections by actor/guitarist Jeff Glickman, and the presentation of an original drama inspired by The Glass Menagerie created by Broadway actor/playwright Jeremy Lawrence.
Poor William, Clark House innkeeper and Delta Bohemian love machine, will be greeting you with a smile and a “How you doin’?” Folks, the reception is a ball and the whole Tennessee Williams Festival is a fall highlight that should not be missed! What a treasure to have such a festival right here in Sunflower River City.
Also, Delta Bohemians Johnny and Susan McPhail will be in attendance as always. The McPhail’s might even have some “Johnny McPhail Has a Posse” members in tow!
John Palmer, of Memphis, will be giving an organ concert at St. George’s Episcopal Church Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in conjunction with the Tennessee Williams Festival. Reverend Jason Shelby will open the concert. The rectory will be open immediately following the concert for those who would like a tour.
The festival is FREE…however…
Lunch on Friday, Oct.12th at CCC — $10 per person.
Reception at Clark House, Fri. Oct. 12th, includes drinks and dinner — $25 per person.
Supper at Ground Zero, Saturday, Oct. 13th — $12 per person
