By GUEST BOHEMIAN PHOTOGRAPHER RORY DOYL
I followed Bill Abel, someone who I have great respect for as a Bluesman and artist. I have seen him play a number of times, but I knew very little about who Bill is off the stage.
Through Barefoot Workshops, I was able to follow him throughout the week, and I was fascinated with his three home studios — one for pottery, another for painting, and a third for recording music. His home in rural Duncan is truly his sanctuary for creativity.
In many ways, I left feeling like Bill is one of Mississippi’s most significant “hidden” artists.
The photos I shot will also be turned into a photo essay with a brief story in an upcoming issue of Delta Magazine.

The DB loves Bill Abel very much – his music, his art, his pottery and especially his spirit.
We like photographing this unique man, too. 😎
