(CLARKSDALE and OXFORD, Mississippi)
The above poster caught my eye while walking out of the Juke Joint Chapel at the Shack Up Inn on Monday night. What a cool idea. “April is Muddy Waters Month at the Delta Blues Museum!”
The staff at the DBM kicks off their Month Long of Muddy Maddness with an opening reception for their “In the Belly of the Blues” Photography Exhibit on Thursday, April 3, 2014. Special guest, photographer, GRAMMY winning songwriter, and author Terry Abrahamson will be attending the celebration from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, with music by Heavy Suga and The Sweet Tones. Delta Blues Museum. One Blues Alley. Clarksdale. “In the Belly of the Blues” exhibit runs from April 3-July 31, 2014.
“Terry Abrahamson won a Grammy writing songs for Muddy Waters, helped launch the career of George Thorogood, and created the first radio commercial ever performed by John Lee Hooker. ‘In the Belly of the Blues’ is Abrahamson’s book, part of the permanent collection of the Library of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”
After viewing this incredible exhibit in Clarksdale, then meeting Terry Abrahamson, while enjoying the cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and speaking to all the locals and tourists at the event, Poor William and I will respectfully bid adieu and head East along Highway 6 to another spectacular affair in Oxford, Mississippi.

Please let there be someone in charge of getting the talent on and off stage. I have attended these kinds of events when the music and the stage and the microphone gets good to a particular artist and two hours later they finally stop. There ain’t nothin’ like the blues.
