(Clarksdale, Mississippi)
PRESS RELEASE
Kim Duease is an artist. Her palette is vivid. Her canvas is broad. Her inspiration is everywhere. Her creativity is from the heart.
A native of colorful Clarksdale in the heart of the Mississippi Delta, Kim began painting and creating as a child and has never stopped. For the last twenty years she has been designing interiors that are a sensual feast, rooms that surprise and delight the senses, places where color and creativity culminate and explode in glorious abandon and truly touch the soul.
Kim has now moved from her artist’s canvas to fabric. The uber creative interior designer is crafting joyously colorful fabrics from her original art for the design trade.
Kim has combined her love of design, color, and textiles in this new line of fabrics. Each fabric is a work of art. Each fabric is conceptualized, designed, and painted on canvas by Kim before being printed on a range of fabrics including silks, Belgian linens, and premium cottons, of course.
A launch party, hosted by interior designer and MS Design Maven design blogger Marilyn Trainor Storey and Delta Bohemian/Delta Bohemian Guest House owner Madge Marley Howell, for the line is scheduled for April, 5, 2014, in Clarksdale at Marilyn Trainor Storey’s design studio Maven in Coahoma at 233 Delta Avenue, from 11 to 4, with a presentation of the line at 2.
The fabrics will be available in the Delta exclusively at Maven In Coahoma and nationwide through select designers and showrooms.
The Line and the Collections
Kim’s initial offering includes forty patterns in five collections – Delta Festival, NOLA, LOLA, Ode to Lilly, and Artisanal Ikats.
Delta Festival explodes with the rich and vibrant colors of Kim’s native Mississippi Delta. It is inspired by the many juxtapositions of this storied place, water and land, plenty and want, earthy and elegant, and of course Blues and Rock.
NOLA is New Orleans, Louisiana at the mouth of the muddy Mississippi River, alive and rich with elegant and historic Spanish and French influences, a nod to the city’s rich culinary tastes, and always a dash of the colorful and decadent Mardi Gras.
Kim pays homage to Lilly Pulitzer and her colorful, carefree, classic, Palm Beach style with an artistic, unconstructed twist in ODE TO LILLY.
LOLA, Kim’s alter ego, is the ultimate, colorful, go everywhere, do everything girl. She comes to life pattern after pattern in lots of delicious iterations.
Kim turns her artist’s eye and creativity toward the integration of color and pattern in her saucy interpretation of age old Ikats in ARTISINAL IKATS.
Additional collections are on Kim’s brush and due within the first half of 2014.
