It was a cold, rainy Spring morning and dozens upon dozens of tandem bicyclers from all over the United States and Europe were not letting that dampen their spirits. They were hungry for some grub by our treasured musician and chef John Mohead, co-owner with wife Jenn Mohead of Kathryn’s on Moon Lake, a restaurant steeped in history and worth a destination drive any Thursday through Sunday night from April-October.
For the second year in a row, Tandem Vacations sent their enthusiasts to Helena, via the American Queen, and then led them to bicycle across the Helena Mississippi River Bridge and stop at Kathryn’s for a hearty, home cooked and prepared breakfast to get them warmed up and ready for another day of travel on their premier Santana Tandem cycles.
“The Santana Tandem group is such a delight to host as they hail from all over the country and love the Mississippi Delta! The group doubled in size from the first year to the second and the leaders attribute that to the popularity of this tour.” — Jenn Mohead, co-owner of Kathryn’s on Moon Lake
It was a sight to see all the bikers at Kathryn’s and later that morning in and around Clarksdale. We were having lunch at a friend’s home on W. 2nd and kept seeing cyclists shoot by our window. It elicited a thrilling feeling to see these unique visitors and we pray they got the same feeling in return.
Come back to the Mississippi Delta Tandem Cycles Vacations! See you again next year!?!
Thank you to John and Jenn Mohead of Kathryn’s on Moon Lake and Charles Evans, owner of Clark House Residential Inn, for sharing their photographs with The Delta Bohemian®.
