The British are coming to Clarksdale!
VIDEO IN POST – Six British couples descended upon Clarksdale, Mississippi yesterday afternoon all piled into one van with luggage. Wow! No Easy feat! What a delightful bunch of overseas cousins were Jim, Tom, Dave, John, Trevor, Peter, Lyn, Brenda, Melanie, Ann, Elaine, and Joe. Lyn was Poor William’s contact person and wow did she take care of business—organized perfectly and pleasant to boot!
Speaking of boots, Melanie’s first question upon arriving was, “Where can I get some cowboy boots?” It was after hours and Poor William was afraid of trying to wrest any local cowboys or cowgirls out of their boots; well, cowgirls might have been okay. Mel and her friend Ann were borrowing the Clark House Residential Inn computer to search for lizard skin boots in either Memphis or Nashville, their next two destinations.
Poor William encouraged the entourage to dine at RUST Restaurant, located in downtown Clarksdale. After a sumptuous meal the crew headed down to Ground Zero Blues Club to hear Terry “Big T” Williams jamming with his smooth blues sound.
The platoon of Island sojourners then stayed up until 2:00 in the morning sipping wine on the Clark House porch and rocking the rest of the night away! Cheers!
P.S. While Magical Madge and Poor William were editing the hastily shot video and writing this blurb, the Brits showed up at the Delta Bohemian office as they were hitting the downtown area, including Shonda Warner’s Miss Del’s General Store and Roger Stolle’s Cat Head Blues and Folk Art.
