The Delta Bohemian made a quick jaunt over the Mississippi River Bridge to attend the 2011 King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, AR, if only for a few hours at $30 apiece for a wristband. While wandering along Cherry Street in the historical town, we perused the vendor tents, ate some good grub and lastly, made our way through the gates to the main stage where it was levee-to-street outdoor, folding sport chairs.

We were proud to see Gary Vincent of Vincent Productions in Clarksdale doing his thing on stage with the video camera. Lemuria Bookstore owner Johnny Evans and his friend, Jeanie Clinton, graciously invited us to join them for a spell inside the gates. The crowd was quite large and maneuvering among the sport chairs was tricky.

Across the way, stage left, we saw Clarksdalian Otto Preus and Moon Lake/NYC resident Neill Myers dancing and enjoying the music. Seeing them having so much fun excited us; we had to capture them on camera. Dancing to the music is a big part of enjoying a festival. In Clarksdale, we have a large area reserved in front of the Delta Blues Museum stage allowing festival-goers to dance to the music. At the King Biscuit, getting close to the stage was impossible due to the congestion of chairs.

Soon we moved on, feeling hemmed in, but we are glad we attended the festival.

Enjoy the photos and the random video footage from the day. MM
