My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction. What you learn from them will crown you with grace and be a chain of honor around you neck.

My child, if sinners entice you, turn your back on them! …My child, don’t go along with them! Stay away from their paths.

My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.

Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.

My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart.

My child don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t be upset when He corrects you.

My children, listen when your father corrects you. Pay attention and learn good judgment, for I am giving you good guidance. Don’t turn away from my instructions. For I, too, was once my father’s son, tenderly loved as my mother’s only child.

My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.

My son, obey your father’s commands, and don’t neglect your mother’s instruction. Keep their words always in your heart. Tie them around your neck. When you walk, their counsel will lead you. When you sleep, they will protect you. When you wake up, they will advise you. For their command is a lamp and their instruction a light; their corrective discipline is the way to life.

A wise child brings joy to a father; a foolish child brings grief to a mother.

People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life, but those who ignore correction will go astray.

A wise child accepts a parent’s discipline; a mocker refuses to listen to correction.

Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who love their children care enough to discipline them.

Those who fear the Lord are secure; He will be a refuge for their children.

Only a fool despises a parent’s discipline; whoever learns from correction is wise.

Sensible children bring joy to their father; foolish children despise their mother.

If you reject discipline, you only harm yourself; but if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding.

Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged; parents are the pride of their children.

It is painful to be the parent of a fool; there is no joy for the father of a rebel.

Foolish children bring grief to their father and bitterness to the one who gave them birth.

A foolish child is a calamity to a father; a quarrelsome wife is as annoying as constant dripping.

Discipline your children while there is hope. Otherwise you will ruin their lives.

Children who mistreat their father or chase away their mother are an embarrassment and a public disgrace.

If you stop listening to instruction, my child, you will turn your back on knowledge.

The godly walk with integrity; blessed are their children who follow them.

Even children are known by the way they act, whether their conduct is pure, and whether it is right.

If you insult your father or mother, your light will be snuffed out in total darkness.

Physical punishment cleanses away evil; such discipline purifies the heart.

Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut, and you will stay out of trouble.

Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.

A youngster’s heart is filled with foolishness, but physical discipline will drive it far away.

Don’t fail to discipline your children. The rod of punishment won’t kill them. Physical discipline may well save them from death.

My child, listen and be wise; Keep your heart on the right course. Do not carouse with drunkards or feast with gluttons, for they are on their way to poverty, and too much sleep clothes them in rags.

Listen to your father, who gave you life, and don’t despise your mother when she is old.

The father of godly children has cause for joy. What a pleasure to have children who are wise.

So give your father and mother joy! May she who gave you birth be happy.

My child, eat honey, for it is good, and the honeycomb is sweet to the taste. In the same way, wisdom is sweet to your soul. If you find it, you will have a bright future, and your hopes will not be cut short.

My child, fear the Lord and the king. Don’t associate with rebels, for disaster will hit them suddenly. Who knows what punishment will come from the Lord and the king?

A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls.

Young people who obey the law are wise; those with wild friends bring shame to their parents.

To discipline a child produces wisdom, but a mother is disgraced by an undisciplined child.

Discipline your children, and they will give you peace of mind and will make your heart glad.
