Planting Injustice, Angry People and a Good Reputation
A false narrative recently initiated by a disgruntled actor and further propagated by most mainstream media outlets without a scintilla of old-school investigative journalism had the potential to ignite a race war in America. Truth matters; and if it ain’ the Truth, then it ain’ right! Planting injustice and associating with angry people leads to bad behavior; often destroying the lives and reputations of the intended, while ruining the previous good or unknown reputation of the instigator.
I loathe piling on a huddle I did not initiate! I really do. A mob mentality is chickenshit run amok, but I’m about to jump on anyway. False, erroneous, specious narratives propagated by Truth-hating foghorns running rampant in the age of media immediacy are capable of capriciously destroying the very fabric of our first world, Judeo-Christian-based civilization. These rabble-rousing, demagoguing firebrands are deleteriously contributing to the devolution of cosmic civil discourse at the disquieting rate of a gasoline-fueled conflagration.
We applaud, are stirred up by, condemn, harangue and deliberate whatever we are spoon-fed by the hegemonic media moguls with enough power, money and influence to write, define and rewrite—at will—whatever they deem we need to hear and believe.
If I were one to intone poxes on people, I would say, “A Pox on them!” But I ain’, and the God I serve would not condone my doing so or even thinking such in my heart! He tells me to love. But, He does not instruct me to condone and shy away from evil and those with evil intent! I am admonished to pray for them, to resist them courteously and to seek and speak the Truth, always in love!
It ain’ easy for a thin-skinned cat like me who ain’ worth killing. I am caustic when challenged and ‘bout a piece-of-work myself; but dammit, “The Truth Matters!” It’s the only plumb line and standard we have to evaluate and assess behavior in a postlapsarian world.
While reading the Proverb chapter of the day—there are 31 chapters in Proverbs, and I read daily the corresponding chapter with that day’s date—the first verse today said, “Choose a good reputation over great riches; being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold.”
We can’t take a single dadgum artifact, amenity or contrivance with us when our short ride on God’s green Earth terminates. Nothing. Nada. The most important remembrance we can bequeath to those left behind is a good reputation founded on Truth, good behavior toward others and an inviolable sense of service beyond self.
Further down in the Proverb chapter of the day, Solomon invoked a karmic certitude: “Those who plant injustice will harvest disaster, and their reign of terror will come to an end.”
Regardless of one’s religious or spiritual beliefs, most folks know that karma and violations of the Golden Rule result in a big-ass hornet’s nest of trouble for the perpetrator of dastardly deeds. Payback is a bitch, and like death, it eventually comes calling, often at the Grim Reaper’s behest.
Right behavior in a fallen world does not always result in said behavior being rewarded, recognized and treated in kind; however, the complexity of pseudo-intangibles like the mind and soul are rewarded internally with peace—a known, priceless, exquisite commodity buffeting and enhancing the human experience.
The final mention of one of the Proverb’s of the day states, “Don’t befriend angry people, or associate with hot-tempered people, or you will learn to be like them and endanger your soul.”
Foul begets foul. Bad company corrupts good manners, and stirring up anger causes quarrels. There is about enough damn drama inherent within this fast-paced, 21st Century vitriolic life where we subsist in constant atomic motion that we need not further fuel division, but should fervently seek Truth and Peace. Peace matters. It is a wellspring of joy and happiness. Cheers! Chilly Billy

In the interest of “good journalism,” what exactly are you bloviating about in Planting Injustice, Angry People and a Good Reputation?
Billy I feel that I need to read this piece a few times to get to the kernel of what you are saying.. For sure being with bad people can corrupt but corruption of the mindset of the masses by false prophets high on nostalgia is occurring right now in Europe where I live but also in the USA without getting too political about it. Love your thought provoking columns. Keep up the good work!
Good to see you back Billy. I to read the daily Proverb among other passages. I still try to follow the “5 things to do every day” you posted long ago. If it is the only thing I get done in a day I figure it’s a good list to get through. Cheers buddy and Merry Christmas..
