Selected Scenes from the
1st Annual Clarksdale Film Festival
The 1st Annual Clarksdale Film Festival was held in the downtown area last weekend. It included an array of short and full length films, most thematically grounded in Mississippi Delta realism. The festival included performances by local Delta blues musicians.
Prom Night in Mississippi and ESPN’s “30 on 30” The Best That Never Was were documentaries not only shown but attended by some of the movers and shakers associated with the productions, including our own Roger Stolle, who answered questions after the showing of his M for Mississippi: A Road Trip through the Birth place of the Blues. Enjoy the spontaneous video interview with legendary actor Johnny McPhail from Oxford, who brought his “posse” with him. (Watch the Video on the Right!) Johnny is heavily involved with Clarksdale’s Annual Tennessee Williams Festival and is a major player in the upcoming Oxford Film Festival to be held February 10-13, 2011.
