CLARKSDALE, MISSISSIPPI – VIDEO IN POST – Dingo celebrated his birthday at Red’s Blues Club this past Friday, January 18, 2013 surrounded by good friends. Razorblade opened the show with his classic “Trouble in my bedroom” followed by a few tunes sung by Miss Gladys and then Rip Butler took over the mic. He sang “It don’t hurt no more” and poured all of himself into it. (See video below)
Each musician serenaded their friend Deejay Dingo and B, Dingo’s wife. Heavy Suga and the Sweet Tones band kept things going all night with Lee Williams on drums, Walt Busby on guitar and Heather Crosse on bass.
Later that night after we left Red’s, Poor William and I were standing around in the kitchen talking and I began playing “It don’t hurt no more” on my phone in the background. It is classic blues juke joint material. I hit replay several times. Rip, you sang your heart out and we were all blessed by it. Thank you.
Happy Birth Day, Dingo. You are a sweetie pie. Dingo took control of the microphone several times throughout the night. One such time he gave praise to and thanked Red for letting him host his birthday party at his friend’s club. Dingo went on and on about Red Paden and how much he loves and appreciates him. Guess what? Red smiled! It was a beautiful thing to see and to be a part of this special night. MM
