a Norwegian Psychedelic Rock Blues Band

While catching up on the news during the recent International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis, we ran across an article about the performance of a Norwegian rock blues band called Pristine at the New Daisy Theater on Beale Street. The following is an excerpt from the article by Blues Revue about the band.

“A whirling B3 intro introduced the dynamic vocals and incredible stage presence of lead singer Heidi and her band Pristine (Norway), whose rocking blues caused the photographers to act like paparazzi for the first time in the evening. Their overall stellar performance commanded constant call and responses from the audience such as “Yeah!” and “Hell, Yeah!” – Blues Revue

The article triggered a quick shift over to Youtube for a Pristine Heidi IBC search which led us to a clip from the actual performance at the New Daisy. Impressive. Yeah. Hell, Yeah! Wish we’d hightailed it north for the IBCs this year instead of staying home in Clarksdale.

So, a few days later when friends Art and Carol Crivaro, owners of Bluesberry Cafe located in downtown Clarksdale – heart of the Mississippi Delta – told us that a group called Pristine was going to perform at the cafe on February 8th, there was no question where we would be on Wednesday night.

Amazing musician and fascinating man Watermelon Slim was also in the house, as he often is, when Pristine began their first set. We love us some Watermelon Slim!

Oh, yeah. We can’t forget to mention how much we enjoyed eating every item on Bluesberry Cafe’s menu that night! Delish. Eggplant Parmesan, Muffuletta, and Spaghetti with Meatballs.
