By Magical Madge
Finding the newest Delta Magazine in our mailbox is always a treat and the current Annual Tourism Issue does not disappoint! Publisher Scott Coopwood and Editor Cindy Coopwood have created a gem to cherish and enjoy sharing with others who love the Mississippi Delta.
Look for Clarksdale native Austin Britt‘s spectacular photograph of Ground Zero Blues Club on the cover. Pick one up if you love the Mississippi Delta. The 2019 Annual Tourism Issue features Live Music Hot Spots, lists the Spring and early Summer Festival Calendar, takes you all over the area on Delta Detours, highlights Cool Digs in Clarksdale and even touts new rediscoveries in Memphis.
An added bonus spotlights a fascinating article by Susan Marquez on our good friend and neighbor Tommy Walton, watercolorist, metalsmith and woodworker.
A beautifully renovated late-Victorian home in Oxford is featured, Hank Burdine writes extensively about the “Allure of the Delta – What makes ‘the most Southern place on earth’ so intriguing”, it includes recipes galore for the cold winter months, and ends with a historical look back to Greenville with “A salute to The Generals” by Noel Workman.
The Delta Seen section is always fun to see a who’s who of candid photographs taken at recent events around the Delta. In this issue, the Christmas Art Opening at Cassidy Bayou Gallery in Sumner was a treat for me to see since it is in my hometown and in a building which once housed my father’s office.
We appreciate the tireless devotion and dedication of Delta Magazine in highlighting this special place we call home–The Mississippi Delta.
