Langdon Clay
A new book from our fine Mississippi Delta photographer titled
ONE WRITER’S GARDEN:
Eudora Welty’s Home Place
Photographer Langdon Clay, long time resident of the bucolic Sumner, Mississippi, home of the Cassidy Bayou Art Gallery, has a new book, published by University Press of Mississippi, titled ONE WRITER’S GARDEN: Eudora Welty’s Home Place.
Langdon has been photographing gardens and homes for years and this latest collection has drawn the attention of a prize winning journalist; Sally D. Ketchum’s review for the New York Journal of Books states, “Noted landscape photographer, Langdon Clay’s work on the restored garden through the seasons is rich with composed-by-nature brilliance. Mr. Clay captures the nature well.” CLICK HERE to read her full review.

Langdon’s wife, Maude Schuyler Clay, or as we know her, Maudie, a Sumner native, photographed Miss Eudora back in 1997. Maudie captured the famed author on film in the Welty living room in Jackson, MS. Who would have known that 14 years later Maude’s husband, Langdon Clay, would be photographing just outside Welty’s living room window. See Maude Schuyler Clay: Southern Grace in Photos which includes her tender portrait of Eudora Welty and others. Maudie has more photographs featured on Langdon Clay’s website, langdonclay.com, including her popular DELTA LAND.
