You tell me….what IS going on around Clarksdale and Coahoma County and beyond these hot summer days? Folks are movin’ slow and in a vacation kind of mood. The Delta Bohemian attended the Summer Blow-Out Blues Jam at The Den on Thursday, July 7th and enjoyed the sounds of Clarksdale icon Johnny Billington and the sweet sweet sounds of Dr. Alphonso Sanders. Paula Thompson, Berklee School of Music Award Winner, was in attendance and spoke highly of her experience in school this summer. She looks forward to returning next summer and hopes to raise more money to help cover her expenses.

The music line-up was impressive. Upon arrival, it was clear they were behind schedule and after more than an hour we realized the line-up wasn’t being followed. The Delta Bohemians grew tired and weary and left. Sorry, Charlie. We were hoping to watch and hear that impressive line-up but grew impatient when the act that was to be done at 8:00pm was still playing at 10:00pm. Oh well. Such is life in the Mississippi Delta when the temp is hovering around 100. Kinda like river time, huh Ruskey?

The music we did hear was quite good! Have a look at the video of Mr. Johnny Billington and Dr. Alphonso Sanders. Nice!

Poor William met motorcycle travelers, Pat and Nick, from Los Angeles as they were passing through on their journey and got them on video. He’s also been spending some time at the cement pond of his Delta Bohemian brother and sister in laws where their rat dog, Rebel, likes to get it on with Ernie. It’s at the end of the video so watch it all.

In general, The Delta Bohemian has been operating in a vacation mode. Along with some major computer issues involving a very slow site, we are rearranging our work environment and even entertaining a move into an office in downtown Clarksdale so we can be closer to the action and people. Please be patient with us as we iron out a few glitches we have on the site, especially regarding too many photographs, which are slowing things down, and our Shopp for Delta Bohemian Wares is temporarily kaput. We are doing a complete revamp of it. Stay tuned, keep on keeping on and Be Bohemian!
