Jill Coursin photographs family, friends, events and places wherever she goes. She hails from such places as Santa Fe, New Mexico and the San Francisco Bay Area, both places the Delta Bohemians want to visit someday. Jill gets around and while she does she is always seen snap, snap, snapping.
We met Ms. Coursin in Clarksdale at last year’s Juke Joint Festival 2011 in Madidi restaurant where she and her lovely sister, Janet Coursin of JUKE JOINT CHAPEL JUMPS FOR JANET fame, were enjoying a libation or two. Jill held a camera. So did I. Before you knew it we were aiming our lens at each other.
Jill knows all about cameras unlike Magical Madge who just gets lucky when she captures a moment worth remembering, in focus and with tolerable lighting and exposure. Just the other day we saw Jill walking down Delta Avenue in Clarksdale; she has returned for another visit to see her sister Janet.
Jill mentioned she had a YouTube video montage of a few of her photos from last year’s Juke Joint Festival. I say a few because I’m told she took…..1,000’s?!? I really only know what Jill looks like when a camera is in front of her face. Not really, but almost.
Jill has a background in art and design and she travels locally and abroad documenting her experiences and then creating YouTube videos, media publications and short documentaries. Jill deeply appreciates experiencing the Blues and Southern hospitality here in Clarksdale, Mississippi and we are pleased to share her video with you. MM
