Clarksdale and Helena. Helena and Clarksdale. I like the sound of that. Our two cities are finding ways to connect and cooperate, helping our worlds, separated by the Mississippi River, come closer together. Both locals and tourists benefit from collaborations like this.

Artists from Helena and Clarksdale will be jointly featured in the river town starting Wednesday, September 24, 2014, in a month long pop-up event, thanks to savvy Helena Advertising & Promotion Commission (A&P). This third in a series of pop-ups will be hosted by North Little Rock based company, Westrock Coffee Co.. The GRAND OPENING for the pop-up is Friday, September 26, 5-7pm.

A month long coffee shop serving coffee, espresso beverages, and locally baked goods is the main menu but the icing on top will be the local art for sale.

FEATURED ARTISTS at WESTROCK COFFEE CO. in HELENA
Helena and Arkansas Artists:
Betsy Brackin, Bill Branch, Susan Carter, Kathy Dulaney, Misti Staley and Ed Wade.
Clarksdale, Mississippi Artists: Randall Andrews, Austin Britt, Valerie Britt, Chris Morrow, John Ruskey, Stan Street and Joey Young.

The MS Design Maven in Coahoma, Marilyn Trainor Storey, has partnered with A&P, HANDWorks, Main Street Helena, Verizon Wireless and KIPP Delta Public Schools on the coffee shop project. Even though the concept is temporary, open from September 24th through October 16th, it will offer locals and visitors a unique place to gather and meet. King Biscuit Blues Festival will surely enjoy this new addition to town.

“With these pop-up events, we’re hoping to demonstrate the local demand that exists for a wider variety of restaurant establishments,” said Julia Malinowksi, A&P Director. “We want folks both locally and regionally to see the opportunity for entrepreneurship and investment that exists here.”

The Delta Bohemian enjoyed Helena’s last one night pop-up called BAR NONE. Enjoy this photo slideshow from the Bar None
