200 plein air paintings in 200 days. Really? Having taken up the paintbrush within the past year after a very long hiatus, I still can not fathom painting a plein air painting every single day for 200 days.
Delta Artist Carol Roark, recently featured in Delta Magazine, did just that. Roark set out on a journey roughly 230+ days ago to paint a plein air painting daily and do it for 200 days straight. And she did it!
Her CSA Exhibit has been hanging at The Powerhouse in Oxford since June 4th and tomorrow evening from 6:00-8:00PM you can not only see this outstanding body of work but you get to meet and visit with the artist.
Carol is recognized as a 2018 Community Supported Artist of the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council in Oxford.
Most of the paintings are small and affordable. Here is your chance to purchase a painting or two as well as consider buying the book which displays all the art she created doing 200 plein air paintings in 200 days! Here is a link to her online shop.
It has been a journey for me because I follow Carol’s Instagram feed — @roarkstudios — and daily marveled at her commitment to accomplish her mission, even during inclement weather, and at her willingness to allow us to watch her grow as an artist.
Last Fall I took a series of beginner plein air art classes from Carol and learned so, so much. She is delightful to be around and so giving in her knowledge.
Read a series of her blog posts HERE written while painting 200 plein air paintings in 200 days. They are fascinating.
The Powerhouse CSA Exhibit is only up until June 29th!!
